now you hear it now you don't ...

.
"Egypt braced for 'march of a million'" says a headline in Telegraph.co.uk today.

What happens in Egypt tomorrow will forever affect what happens in Pottersville.

I hear "Muslim Brotherhood" repeated in every broadcast - the fear factor - but I have not heard "Suez Canal" come up but once or twice: did you notice ?

Then again, what has already happened in Pottersville is why the price of wheat in Egypt today is 40% higher than a year ago, why Maize price is 50% higher in Mexico, and so on, stirring up "resentment" which is now focused on "corrupt" governments or leaders ...

What has already happened in Pottersville is why food prices are rising rapidly around the world today.

The voice of Hillary Clinton was heard on ABC radio yesterday (I heard it), saying:

"People are not going to stand by any more and not
realize their God-given potential."
- Hillary Clinton, January 30, 2011

She may have used a different word than "realize" but the rest is accurate as I remember it, quickly writing it down as I did.

Will that quote ever show up in a search engine, or was it just one of those midnight "drive-bys" ... ?

Leaders of governments stand still for photos while they shake hands; envelopes fat with cash move swiftly after the "photo-op" which is a PSYOP like words uttered in the night to limited audiences.

What makes a leader or a government "corrupt" and who defines the word "corrupt" ... and who keeps them in power, decides when to replace them ?

Today the Egyptian military sides with The People and 82-year-old Hosni Mubarak is careful to keep the military on "his" side too.

Amazing he does not look 82, but ...

Surely Ms. Clinton must know what she is saying.

Tomorrow the Egyptian military will want to be paid, just like we all do, and then who will they "side" with ... ?

... and so what happens if and when Hillary's words are applied in Potterville ... ?

Will the real Free Market please stand up ?

.
Today's "free market analysis" focuses on the role and effects of government activities because governments typically maintain a near-monopoly over coercion.

True *Free Market thinking* regards a realm of social arrangements which arise and exist *in the absence of* violence or threats of violence.

cutting off the Chase ...

This morning I made my last purchase with my Washington Mutual debit card, voluntarily - a planned last purchase, filling up my gasoline tank - although at around $3.25 was NOT part of the plan, but ...

My WM card was originally issued with an expiration date of September, 2011 [9/11] - a treasured detail - and of course it still HAS that same expiration date, and I HAD planned to continue using it until that date.

Then came the unexpected buyout last year of WM by *Chase* Bank (what they call themselves for depositors) which I prefer to characterize as a *forced sale*
... but what do I know.

If you desire to work for "Chase" your employer's name is actually *JPMorgan Chase* which "has a presence in more than 50 locations worldwide and offers an exciting variety of career opportunities globally."

Last September, Chase sent me a new *Chase* debit card to replace my WM card - even though the latter was "good" at that time for another year and I did not ask for a new or replacement card - and Chase has been "encouraging" me to use their new card ever since, beginning with reminders sent in the mail repeatedly telling me how to activate my new Chase card.

Inserts included with my monthly statement also had activation instructions, but I had no intention of activating that card EVER, and so "encouragement" from Chase has gradually become stronger, until Chase actually had a machine call my home phone to leave a message telling me how much longer I could continue using my WM card, until yesterday another recorded message left on my machine let me know the WM card will no longer be accepted by Saturday morning.

While Washington Mutual was not my favorite bank, JPMorgan Chase is not the bank I like least of all, but it does rank near the bottom of my favorites list - closer every day.

The only reason I have not already closed my Chase account is the automatic deposit I have to redirect to another institution takes time to "push" the paperwork through.

When that transfer is done and other details are taken care of, the last check I will write from my *former* Washington Mutual account, to close it out, will be to the Fully Informed Jury Association [fija.org].

Today's post from Pottersville is intended as a bit of an introduction to your interpreter and tour guide here, and thank you so much for visiting.

imagine Peace today

"Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal."

as long as the Dollar Rules ...

.
Tired of "Traffic on the 4s" I switched to FM just in time to hear the response to the "caller from New York City" - how to manage a balanced portfolio.

The talk continued: the market is up 25% since July, food prices have not risen significantly in the last year ...

I think it is great to do our best to maintain a sense of normalcy in the face of disaster, pretending things will continue to be like we remember them.

Normalcy Bias* - as long as the Dollar Rules ...
